The essentials

The HSP is a cutting scissor from the Highest Series range, forged by the Togiya manufacture. Helix blade, 3D anamorphic handle, bearing-implant screw.

This length is made for precision work: scissor-over-finger cutting, outlines, detail around the face, point cutting. It is the most common format in salons, and usually the right choice for a first Japanese pair.

The blade

The helix blade follows a progressive twist that accompanies the closing: the cutting point travels from base to tip, giving a continuous gliding sensation, much appreciated in point cutting and scissor slicing.

In the hand

The 3D anamorphic handle follows the curve of the hand: pressure is spread over a wider surface, noticeably reducing strain on the knuckles during busy days. The screw is mounted on a washer and set with a key: tension should be checked weekly.

Available for right-handed users and as a true left-handed version — blades and screw mirrored from the forge, not a reversed assembly. Available sizes: 5″, 3″, 5″, 8″, 6″, 3″, 6″, 8″.

Forged in Inuyama

The Highest Series range comes out of the Togiya manufacture, which controls its whole chain: steel selection, forging, hardening, grinding, then hand sharpening and assembly. That end-to-end control explains the value of Togiya's “Made in Japan”.

Care and lifespan

Wipe the blades at the end of each day, add a drop of oil on the screw and edge, store the pair in its case. Once a year, hand it to a sharpener trained on Japanese blades — never to a standard grinding wheel, which would destroy the convex geometry in a single pass.
