ARIA-G30

The ARIA-G30 is a thinning shear from the Art Collection I range, forged by the Togiya manufacture. 30-tooth thinning scissors, camel & 3D anamorphic handle, dial adjustment screw.

A thinning shear does not replace a cutting pair — it completes it. Work on dry hair, at the end of the cut, to remove weight without touching the line. Used on wet hair, the dry result will always be thinner than intended.

Its 30 teeth make it a versatile thinner: removal stays moderate and controlled, suited to most hair types. If you only keep one thinning shear at your station, this is the density to aim for.

The blade

The blade is ground and then hand-sharpened in Inuyama, following Togiya's own geometry: a consistent edge along the full length, checked piece by piece before dispatch.

In the hand

The 3D anamorphic handle follows the curve of the hand: pressure is spread over a wider surface, noticeably reducing strain on the knuckles during busy days. The knurled screw adjusts by hand, mid-cut if needed: half a turn is enough to firm up or loosen the closing.

Available for right-handed users and as a true left-handed version — blades and screw mirrored from the forge, not a reversed assembly. Available sizes: 6″, 0″.

Forged in Inuyama

The Art Collection I range comes out of the Togiya manufacture, which controls its whole chain: steel selection, forging, hardening, grinding, then hand sharpening and assembly. That end-to-end control explains the value of Togiya's “Made in Japan”.

Care and lifespan

Wipe the blades at the end of each day, add a drop of oil on the screw and edge, store the pair in its case. Once a year, hand it to a sharpener trained on Japanese blades — never to a standard grinding wheel, which would destroy the convex geometry in a single pass.
